Pharmacy Portal
I understand it can become confusing when we have different types of pharmacies involved in our treatment plan.
Please explore below and as always, if you have questions, please email me at [email protected]
Retail pharmacies are our most common historically. These prescriptions will be transmitted electronically as you may be used to.
Supplements are not prescribed in the same way. The supplements link will take you to an explanation of some of the most common supplements as well as to the stores. This is where you can order the supplements you choose to add.
Hormone therapy most commonly will come from a compounding pharmacy. There is a local pharmacy I like using, but at times I will choose a national pharmacy due to certain availability. They will often text or email you the instructions to create an account and for billing.
Peptides are in a very new space. I have included a few of the most commonly discussed peptides. The legal restrictions within this space are changing frequently. Sourcing is very important. For this reason, I am utilizing two national companies for sourcing and prescriptions.
Retail Pharmacy
This is our traditional way to prescribe medications. Please ensure that you have your pharmacy information available to me at your visit. I will send the prescriptions electronically and you can pick them up as you would any other prescription.
Supplements
This is where you will find your vitamins, herbal supplements, collagen or protein powders. This includes the most commonly found supplements.
Ashwagandha (ADAPTOGEN) An adaptogenic herb used to buffer the stress response, support cortisol balance, sleep, and thyroid function.
Berberine (GLUCOSE METABOLISM) A plant-derived compound that may support healthy blood sugar, insulin sensitivity, and cholesterol levels. It can interact with medications and is best used with clinical guidance.
Boswellia serrata (INFLAMMATORY- AUTOIMMUNE JOINT CONDITIONS) May reduce joint pain and stiffness and improve function. Use caution if: You are pregnant, take multiple medications, have gastrointestinal sensitivity, or are preparing for surgery.
Calcium (BONE HEALTH) An essential building block of bone. The goal is not necessarily to take a calcium supplement—it is to make sure you are getting enough total calcium from food + supplements.
Collagen Peptides (CONNECTIVE TISSUE) Provides amino-acid building blocks that support skin elasticity, joint cartilage, tendon integrity, and gut lining repair.
CoQ10 (Ubiquinol) (MITOCHONDRIAL) Supports cellular energy production and cardiovascular health; often recommended for those on statin therapy, which depletes natural CoQ10.
Curcumin (Turmeric Extract) (ANTI-INFLAMMATORY) Used for joint discomfort, recovery, and general inflammatory load — best absorbed with piperine or a lipid-based formulation.
Devil's Claw (INFLAMMATION-JOINT HEALTH) Herb native to southern Africa that has traditionally been used for musculoskeletal discomfort. Important: Devil's claw is not appropriate for everyone. Use caution or avoid if you have: Peptic ulcer disease, gallstones, certain heart or circulatory conditions, diabetes treated with glucose-lowering medication as it may affect blood glucose, blood pressure, heart rate, and medication metabolism.
Glucosamine + Chondroitin (JOINT HEALTH) Naturally occurring components of cartilage
Magnesium Glycinate (SLEEP & STRESS) Supports sleep quality, muscle relaxation, nervous- system regulation, and healthy blood pressure and glucose metabolism.
N-acetylcyteine (ANTIOXIDANT) A glutathione precursor supporting liver detoxification pathways, respiratory health, and antioxidant defense.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids (INFLAMMATION) Found primarily in fatty fish and fish-oil supplements.
Probiotic / Prebiotic Blend (GUT HEALTH) Supports gut microbiome diversity, which in turn influences digestion, immune function, mood, and hormone metabolism.
Vitamin D3 (BONE & IMMUNE) Supports calcium absorption, bone density, immune regulation, and mood. K2 helps direct calcium into bone rather than soft tissue.
Vitamin K (BONE HEALTH) A fat-soluble vitamin important for normal blood clotting and bone health. Vitamin K2 may also help support appropriate calcium utilization in the body; supplementation requires special consideration for patients taking certain blood-thinning medications.
Zinc & Copper (IMMUNE) Supports immune defense, wound healing, skin health, and healthy testosterone and thyroid metabolism.
Hormones
Hormones are chemical messengers produced by the body that travel through the bloodstream. Sometimes they are able to act locally to communicate with cells and help regulate functions such as metabolism, growth, reproduction, mood, sleep, and stress responses.
Hormone therapies are individualized based on your symptoms, health history, risks, goals; hormone therapy is an option, not a requirement.
Estradiol ESTROGEN (oral, transdermal patch, gel, or cream) The primary estrogen used to relieve hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and to support bone density and cardiovascular and cognitive health during the menopause transition. Transdermal delivery is generally favored if we have patients with a concerning clotting-risk profile compared with oral forms.
Vaginal Estrogen LOCAL ESTROGEN (cream, ring, or insert) A low-dose, localized therapy that treats vaginal dryness, discomfort, and urinary symptoms with minimal systemic absorption — can be used safely alongside or independent of systemic hormone therapy.
Micronized Progesterone PROGESTERONE (oral or topical) Balances estrogen's effect on the uterine lining in patients with a uterus, and independently supports sleep quality, mood stability, and a calming effect on the nervous system.
Phytoestrogens HORMONAL HEALTH Naturally occurring plant compounds, found in foods such as soy and flaxseed, that can interact with estrogen receptors in the body. They may offer modest benefits for menopausal symptoms and may also support bone, cardiovascular, and metabolic health.
Testosterone TESTOSTERONE (cream, troche, or IM) Used in both women and men to support libido, energy, mood, muscle mass, and cognitive clarity. In women, doses are a fraction of male replacement doses and are carefully titrated.
DHEA ADRENAL PRECURSOR (oral or vaginal) A precursor hormone the body converts into estrogen and testosterone; used to support energy, libido, and vaginal tissue health, particularly as adrenal hormone production declines with age.
Thyroid Hormone THYROID (desiccated thyroid extract) Replaces or supplements thyroid hormone for those with hypothyroidism; directly affects metabolism, energy, temperature regulation, mood, and weight — often reassessed alongside other hormone therapy.
Peptides
Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signaling molecules in the body. Recently, peptides have gained attention for potential effects on recovery, body composition, metabolism, and healthy aging; however, evidence, regulation, safety, and product quality vary significantly among individual peptides.
At Valivera Health, peptide therapies are considered an individual basis, based on the available evidence, potential risks and benefits, and a patient’s specific health goals.
